How does Docklands measure up for kids? The Results are in!

How does Docklands measure up for kids? The Results are in!

Back in July of 2009 we ran an article on Vertical Living Kids, which was a study undertaken by Melbourne University to examine the relationship between downtown high rise housing and children’s levels of physical activity and independent mobility in the Cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip.

The study was funded by VicHealth in response to media and scholarly research concerned that ‘obesogenic’ environments discourage children’s activity and autonomous exploration of their local neighbourhood. The argument centred on whether vertical living increased the likely hood of childhood obesity in kids.

The Vertical Living Kids report has just been published online which is extremely comprehensive and addresses many of the issues concerning vertical living for children.
