RACE 1
City of Joondalup Criterium
Race 1 of the SmokeFree Perth Criteriums kicked off the series in style with racing in Joondalup on Friday night (5/2). Racing was super fast on the opening night with both Bike Force teams prominent in their respective heats. Unfortunately a crash in the field spilt the field in the first heat with 5 laps to go ruining any chance the team had for victory. Bill Gordin managed to salvage a top 10 finish and win the $400 intermediate sprint so all was not lost for his team.

RACE 2
City of Perth Northbridge Criterium

Race 2 of the SmokeFree Perth Criteriums was held at the Northbridge course. This circuit suited the Bike Force teams as it was rectangular and had flowing corners. Bike Force were very much in the mix for the full length of the event with our own “Big Gun” Bill Gordin leading into the final two corners to take out a hard fought victory.

RACE 3
Town of Victoria Park Criterium

Race 3 of the Perth Criterium Series headed to the popular café area of Victoria Park for an early evening showdown!

Albany Highway is known for its popular cafes and pubs however, in previous years it has played host to some fierce competitive cycling being an integral stage of the Perth Criterium Series. This technical course with a U turn and an up hill section proved to be the most difficult of all with only 9 riders from a field of 36 completing the race. Unfortunately the Bike Force team could not repeat the victory from the day before however everyone gave it everything they had.

RACE 4
Town of Vincent Criterium

Race 4 of the Perth Criteriums was staged in the café strip in Leederville on a difficult and technical course. Our Bike Force teams were hoping to finish the series with another podium finish but tired legs prevailed resulting in brave displays from all riders. Jason De Senneville, Matt Wikstrom, Dean Whelan and Bill Gordin rode exceptional races to be prominent through out the event.
Overall the Bike Force teams rode extremely well considering the lack of experience, with only Bill having raced at this level previously. All team members are keen to return for next years series with more experience and stronger legs.
